Ok, so Chinese culture may be very different from what we might refer to as European, but even with that in mind I have to admit I’m baffled by the Beijing Olympic Organising Committee’s decision to launch an ‘official Olympic chant’ to be used by Chinese fans during the games this summer.
childhood memories – en français!

The other day I came across the website of a series of books about a boy called Le petit Nicolas (English: Nicholas, Icelandic: Litli Lási), which were my favorite books as a kid. The books are about a young boy, aged somewhere between 6-10, growing up in France in the 1950s. Written by René Goscinny and brilliantly illustrated (as evident on the photo) by Jean-Jacques Sempé, I think these books are some of the greatest things ever to have come out of L’hexagone.
lego is awesome
Posted in family, travels with tags family, lego, nephew on Sunday, 16 December, 2007 by snorriI’ve been staying at my sister’s place nearby Oslo in Norway, in order to get to spend some time with my nephew, whom I’ve barely seen since we went to Tuscany with earlier this summer. I’ve been having a blast, but I’ve been faced with a question I haven’t been able to answer. Why did I ever stop playing with LEGO?

I went on a trip to Iceland in August for two weeks with my parents. We drove through Iceland, covering the entire ring road in about a week. This picture was taken West of Borgarfjörður, in the north-east of Iceland, where we had been visiting relatives.
Take a look at the rest of the pictures from the trip here, on my Flickr account.
why i hate currys

It’s been working more or less fine, until very recently when the battery started flat-lining after only about 50 minutes, which is a shame since my lectures are exactly that long. So I called customer support, a company called the Tech Guys (who do support for Currys) to see if they could do anything. They told me to install a BIOS update, which would fix some problems regarding the battery. What ensued was not an update of the BIOS, but rather a complete and utter failure on their part, and some of the worst days of my life.
